Bazzite Installed & Games Working

One of the jobs to be done during my time off was to get Windows 11 off the laptop, and install Bazzite. Well, I decided today was going to be that day. After a long run that started late (because I didn't have an alarm on), and some house chores done. I didn't have a vast amount of time left in the morning. But I thought an hour would be ample.

I fired up Windows to make sure there was nothing on there I needed. Holy shit, was that an utter battle. Sign in to this, do that, look at this on the side of this menu, click this to make this go away (takes you to somewhere else completely unrelated). Don't forget to sign in to OneDrive. Oh, and there might be updates. It was utter fucking chaos. I think it took a good 15 minutes to stop it from doing whatever it wanted.

I downloaded Bazzite, dumped it on a USB stick, and rebooted. And would you like to guess what happened upon reaching the desktop of the live ISO? That's right, nothing. No annoying pop-ups, sign-in prompts, or anything else that made me want to launch the laptop across the room. It was bliss.

I double-clicked the install shortcut, and told it to take the whole drive. 10 minutes later, I was sat there with asking me to log in with absolutely no other distractions whatsoever. A quick filter on the games library to see what was playable (practically everything). But the ones that interest me downloaded and just worked. Except Guild Wars 2 that needed a launcher option to use the portal. But that took 2 seconds.

I regret putting it off for so long, and should have done it sooner. Hats off to everyone involved with Bazzite. That was seamless.

I can now play OpenTTD, Transport Fever 2, and Guild Wars 2 without being harassed by Windows any more.
